The Training

Street-Effective Self-Defence

At the Bujinkan Martial Arts Ninjutsu Academy in Geelong, our self-defence classes are built around real-world, street-effective skills. Adult and high school students train in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu — Ninjutsu and Japanese Jujutsu — developing the ability to fight standing, on the ground, and against weapons or multiple attackers.

This is not sport training. There are no tournaments, no point-scoring, no techniques designed for competition conditions. What we teach is built for the situations that actually happen.

Striking Using the full body as a weapon — hands, elbows, knees, feet, and body mass applied with structure and intent.

Joint Locks & Controls Locking and controlling any joint in the body. Applied with precision to neutralise threats without relying on size.

Pressure Points Anatomical targets that create a decisive advantage at close range — disrupting balance and strength efficiently.

Knife Defence Integrated throughout all training — not an afterthought. Creating space, protecting vital areas, managing real attack patterns.

Ground Defence Positional control and escapes from ground situations — practical survival when the fight hits the floor.

Situational Awareness Reading threats before they escalate. The first and most important line of defence in any real situation.

Younger Students

Kids Self-Defence Classes

We offer structured self-defence classes for children aged 5 to 12, with age-appropriate techniques designed to build genuine capability in a safe and supportive environment.

Ages 5–7 Ninja Stars Body control, gross motor skills, and the foundations of personal safety. Energetic, positive, and age-appropriate from day one.

Ages 8–12 Samurai Warriors Structured self-defence with real techniques — less aggressive strategies appropriate for their age, built for real-world situations.

Ages 11–15 Teen Training Focused self-defence training for teens. Striking, ground skills, knife defence, and the awareness to stay out of trouble in the first place.
