Martial Arts Weapons
Weapons Training is usually conducted the last 30 minutes of each class. Each month we train different weapons all year around. By Black Belt you can use all the weapons that we train in as well as being skilled in Kicking, Punching, Locking, Grappling, Choking, Throwing and Breakfalls.
We study what in Japan is known as a Sogo Bujutsu or complete system of martial arts. This is not usual in martial arts, normally you only learn one or two aspects such as kicking and punching like in Karate and Tae kwondo. Very few systems are naturally complete, most have to add on other systems to try to fill in the original styles gaps.
“Why study weapons ?
You’re not going to have a weapon with you if you get attacked on the street are you!”
The standard answer is “No……….but they might! And it’s better to know at least a little about how different weapons work to be able to protect yourself, it’s also a lot of fun.
The deeper answer is that the weapons help you understand how to move and connect different aspects of your body, fighting with weapons teaches you how to fight without weapons and vica versa, like I said previously our art is like no other.
