The Discipline of Non-Selection
Every eye that scans a landscape runs the same sequence. It catches a cue, orients, interprets what it found, selects a target, and acts. Break the sequence anywhere before selection and a person standing in plain sight can go unchosen. The full narrative treatment of stealth doctrine, across thirty-three chapters.

The Problem
Most people reach for the gear first: the pattern, the colour, the clothing. But visual camouflage is the thinnest layer of stealth, and the only one that cannot save a failure beneath it. A man in a flawless ghillie suit crouched in a front garden at noon has spent all his effort on the top layer and failed every layer under it. The suit that would hide him in a hedgerow makes him, here, the strangest thing on the street.
Observers don't scan a scene objectively. They filter. Attention is pulled toward behavioural error, bad timing, movement, novelty and anything out of context. A figure in the wrong colour may be passed over; a figure doing the wrong thing will not. That is why stealth is a discipline of correctness, and why it begins with behaviour, timing and restraint, not with appearance.

The Manual

Thirty-three chapters in eight parts carry the doctrine from the ground up. The problem stops being how to disappear. It becomes how perception fails, and how to fail it deliberately. Every principle is worked on the ground it describes rather than asserted and left, and the drills are written out with their failure conditions.
Who It's For
Meet Rob Baard
Rob Baard didn't come to stealth through theory. Growing up small, quiet and visibly different in a rough area, he learned early to read distance and leave before attention turned into trouble. As a teenager training ninjutsu in a Geelong lodge hall, he had twenty seconds to hide while someone ran to press the pedestrian lights, and every time he was found, he learned why. He is a 14th Dan Shihan and Japan-licensed Shidoshi, trained at the Bujinkan Hombu Dojo under Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi, a licensed private investigator, and a documentary filmmaker.

How is this different from Stealth & Camouflage?
Stealth & Camouflage is the quick reference, one topic to a page, built for refreshing what you know and teaching it. This book is the full narrative treatment, written to be read start to finish, with every principle argued and shown working on the ground it describes. Neither replaces the other.
Is this about hiding?
No. Hiding is what a person does after attention has already landed on them. This book works earlier, on keeping attention from escalating in the first place. Stealth is not about hiding. It is about not being selected.
Is it legal to practise?
The book teaches non-selection as a discipline of understanding: detection literacy, personal safety and lawful restraint. It is not a method of evading lawful authority, and it is turned toward lowering your own risk, never toward gaining an advantage over anyone else.
Do I need martial arts or military training?
No. The doctrine starts with how ordinary observers see, filter and select, and the drills are written out with their failure conditions so you can tell whether you are doing them properly.
Does it cover cities and everyday life?
Yes. Part VIII covers blending into plain sight, crowds, surveillance awareness, vehicles, digital visibility, and the long game of living unremarkable without effort.
